Dec. 16 I fly into LAX and on Dec. 17 I took a bus out. I am now in Mammoth working as a Ski Instructor. I am meeting so many interesting people. Its really quite amazing the type of people that come to Mammoth. I am going to interview those people. I feel they are too cool to pass up. We will see how long it will last. On December 26 she will be flying to Israel to help in a program called Kids Creating Peace.
The purpose of the Organization: To create peace amongst children of Jews and Palestinian. By starting with the youth.
Her story: She has done Kabbalah since 16 years old with her family, it is through this program that she found out about Kids Creating Peace through Kabbalah.
Why: She was sick of Dentist job. She was apart of a program called Kids Opportunity to Change and liked that. Now she feels
unfulfilled so she is looking for something else.
The purpose of Kids Opportunity for Change: Is to go to really bad schools and teach kids how to deal with life issues
what is the benefit to teaching kids spirituality. It was changed to Success for Kids because its not as broad.
Is there a benefit in giving kids spirituality?
It gives u a sense of purpose, guides you more or less, to the correct direction
What is it that guides: tools in Kabbalah about transformation, not religious based, based on Spirituality. You grow and change
Still unfilled: very obedient to mom. mom chose path to dentist, now i regret that trying to figure out what I am really want to do

Let me tell you why these gloves are awesome.

1.When I am waiting for the bus I am fully dressed in my winter garb. Meaning I have like 6 layers on AND 2 gloves. Then I see the bus and I have to pull of my mittens because they are too big to shove in my pockets. Or they are to klunky for me to open my wallet with and I can't usually grip my bus car. So either way I have to take my mittens off.

2. I have to unlock the door outside my apartment when I come home. I have to take off mittens, dig through my back pack/ jacket, find the individual key... All exposing my little hamster hands.

These solve that problem! I can just pull the magic glove thing and I have fingers. Then I don't have to expose the rest of my hand! So fantastic! He he he. Yes I am a wimp. I grew up in CA ok.

It's Cold

I love winter. Cause it means you can layer. However, it stops being fun when you layer and your still freezing. I have never had that problem being from CA. But whilest I have been in Finland I have had a re occuring problem and waiting for the bus and feeling like i am in the Freezer. I will get home and be cold for atleast an hour after that. I put an end to it and have started wearing my dreaded winter pants. For me those are the pants I wear when I go sking....not when I go to town. Being discouraged by this I looked at Anthropology.

The problem is that most clothing stores is they have only have clothes for cold but not cold(er) weather. An outfit may have a long sleeved shirt but no tights, its like really?? You have no idea how impractical that outfit is. So I was happy to see that Anthropolgy had taken jackets that I would ushaully think as ugly and transformed them to wonderfulness, like they do.

The other night I went to a Finnish Thanksgiving with a Finnish Friend of mine, Kata. Finns actually don't have Thanksgiving but this one was put on by some Christians at her medical school. To start the night off and to get to know everyone they went around the circle and said they're favorite smell and why. It was torn between the Forrest and Coffee.

MMmm! Mine was obviously coffee. One of my favorite things to do is to wake up and make coffee. Its one of the benefits of waking up in the morning. I use the French Press. I know its good to go when after it sits for two minutes i can't see through the water. Then I know its dark enough. Afterwards I press the French press , I put two teaspoons of sugar, dry creamer into my cup. In Finland I have a christmas cup that I use thats my favorite, so I pour it into my christmas cup. I sip it and then I think "this needs cinnamon" and I dash some cinnamon! I got that idea from a friend I met in Germany, Kristen. It makes it magical!

In fact I am drinking coffee as I write this!

1. Jeans that don't fit anymore
Its a tease! you see them in the closet, you want to wear them. If you choose to wear them than the rest of the day you are uncomfortable. But you don't give them away cause you think to yourself, "One day I will loose weight" or "One day I will be fat again and fit into those jeans." Either way its just so sad cause if you've gained and your me than you know your not going to be loosing weight. OR if you've lost weight than you know if you will EVER fit into those jeans, you have to do the unthinkable.... gain weight. Than you feel guilty for buying new jeans cause you have those other jeans in the closet.

2. Large European Coke bottles
I am not sure about the rest of Europe cause I have only lived by myself in Finland, but small coke bottle are MORE expensive than large bottles. I have a small mini fridge...those large coke bottles don't fit in my fridge. Luckily its freezing outside so I keep those bottles on my little patio. But what if it wasn't cold outside? Than what!? Than what!? Well I will tell you what....You would be stuck with luke warm coke....... disgusting.

3. My hair
Its everywhere! I need a freaking vacuum brush! Because its everywhere! On my floor, on my clothes, on my boyfriends floor and clothes! Its practically in the air I breathe!

Artichoke, Shrimp, Wine Sauce

Ok what started out as a nasty dip turned into a delicious pasta sauce. All thanks to my sister. Who actually knows how to cook. I do not. She does. But I am trying to be malleable and learn from her.

So this is what the dip called for:

1 block of cream cheese

1 can of pink shrimp

1/2 jar of artichoke antipasto

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese

lime juice and hot sauce to taste

I made it, tasted it, and it was awful.

Then the paragon of success came in (Emily) and gave me a solution to my problem:

2-3 tbs Butter

Saute garlic

Add cup of white wine

simmer

cook noodles

and now you have a pasta sauce.

For a salad it was salmon, beets and olives.

Some day I hope to emulate her abilities. But until I learn it I guess I will have to keep asking her to safe my manky dishes. By the way, manky is not a GRE word, its just made up word. It means nasty.

Studying for the GRE

There are lots of things I pretend to do. I pretend to cook, I pretend to have friends, I pretend to be an actor, an artist and a fashionista. I can now add something else to the list. I am pretending to study for the GRE. In my imaginary world of pretending to do things I am going to take the test when I am in Hungary around October. For those of you who don't know one must take the GRE to get a Masters. I want to go to Cambridge University (England) to get a Masters in Divinity. Now remember, this is all in my pretend world. So if I return the GRE book tomorrow, don't hold me to it. Cause I was just pretending.

We shall see how long this fervor last.

Spegittie and Meatballs

Speggittie and Meatballs

1 tsp. ground black pepper

1 1/2 or more tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp. thyme

1 1/2 tsp. oregano

1 1/2 tsp. sage

2 tbsp. italian seasoning

1 1/2 tbsp. garlic powder

1 1/2 tbsp. onion powder

1 egg

1 cup bread crumbs... if you don't have bread crumbs, use more grated parmesan.

1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl... after well mixed take about 3 tbsp of meat and roll into a ball. Continue until all are uniform. Take saute pan and heat Olive Oil in pan. Let pan heat for about five minutes on high. Place meat balls in pan and turn about every three minutes. After first three minutes turn heat down. Undercook them so that when you add the tomato sauce they aren't over cooked after.

Easy Tomato sauce:

Canned tomatoes (2-3 cans)

oregano, sage, thyme, all 1/2 tsp.

salt 1 tsp.

pepper 1/2 tsp.

red wine 1/2- 3/4 cup, to taste

Simmer in the pan with the meat balls on very low heat for 15 minutes. Check occasionally to make sure they don't burn!

Pasta:

Boil water. RAPID BOIL.

Salt the water. 1 tbsp or less depending on how much pasta you're making. Make Aldente.

when done cooking, drain and put in bowl. Pour olive oil over them and mix so they don't stick. Place the meat balls over the pasta and then sprinkle parmesan cheese over EVERYTHING!! :)

It all started with this picture from Christian Dior Paris fashion week:

It dawned on me how versatile trench coats really are. They are practical, they go with a formal dress or grungy jeans. It was quite the revelation. I am now determined to find one. Just about as determined as I was to find a faux fur leopard coat.......which never happened by the way. They are freaking expensive!

I am an so impressed with the craftsmanship of these clothes. This is proof that fashion is an art! I know nothing of sewing but I can not even imagine the construction that went into each of these outfits.

Sleeping Pills

The peace of sleeping pills. I am no denier of my love for sleeping pills. I am a person of extremes. When I go to sleep I want to feel tired. When I wake up I want to feel energized and ready to go. But I never feel any of those things. So I use sleeping pills and coffee to give me the best of both worlds. Even as I write this I think of how horrible it sounds.

I agree. I would not say this to my parents but I am definitely emotionally addicted to caffeine and tranquilizers. Even as I write this I just took a swigg of Nyquil. There is a slight concern that maybe I am addicted. But I am not worrying about it. Especially when my body is so doped up I can't even lift up my eye lids.

My new inspiration is Margot Tenenbaum. This character is from the movie The Royal Tenenbaums. She wears a polo dress, with a black eyeliner a small clip for her hair and a fur coat to top it off.

I think I will stay away from the fur coat but a faux fur leapord coat is looking mighty good right now. I saw one in my favorite vintage stores but it was more expensive than my leather jacket so I have to find another way. This jacket is going to be essential in helping me with my plan to dress black all the time. Cause all I would have to wear with this top is black leggings and a black top with black eye liner like Margot Tenenbaum. So SAWEET.

I just hope that I don't see all of these people wearing Leopard Jackets now. As soon as I bought my leather jacket I saw them everywhere. You can even get crappy ones at Forever 21!

The Last Flight

Saturday was the last day of my Kite Flying Society. It was founded by My sister and I. We meet every month on the first sunday. Its been a great run. But it most come to an end because I am flying off to Germany in August. I will be gone for a year and since I am the Captain of Flight Club it can not go on with out me. Yesterday was my 20th birthday. To celebrate my maturity my father took me some where that would seal me as an adult........a Jonas Brother's Concert. Yes thats right. I went to the Mecca of Jr. High worship. I knew about it for a few weeks. To be honest I am actually the one who suggested I go. You See I am a Jr High leader at my church and I got free tickets because my dad has a business box. It was free and I could not pass up the opportunity to make my girls jealous. So even though I had never listened to their music before I jumped in the car to be serenaded by a boy band.

Having never heard their music before that night I was coming with a complete open mind. What is interesting to me is that most people (above the age of 16) who have never listened to them actually hate them. I had the same conversation with every person who found out I was going to the concert.

Person: "your going to the Jonas Brother's Concert. EWWWW! I hate them"

Surpirsed that they don't see the humor in it I would jokingly explained to them about why I was going and that I don't know anything about them.

Person: "Well I haven't heard any of their music either but.......(blah blah more hatred)

Firstly, why does anyone confess that they don't know anything about the thing that they apparently "hate". Thats just admitting your ignorance on the subject. No one wants to hear an emotional person talk about something they know nothing about. With every conversation it was like being blasted back to 8th grade. Why do people have to prove they cool by hating a boy band that is being marketed to jr highers? Who cares if a 19 year old hates them when they are ment to be for 13 year old?

That night as I sat back and watched the show. I was amazed. It was one of the best concerts have ever seen. When I went home I listened to their CDs. Their CDs were not nearly as good as the performance. Regardless, I got some of their songs and I am proud to say that I am a 20 year old Jonas Brothers Fan and that my favorite is Nick.

So to all those other uninformed people who hate them to prove that they aren't in 8th grade: have fun pretending to be cool as I rock my Jonas Brother t-shirt and lip synch to loud music in my room! PARTAY! PARTAY!

I am truly stunned. Having known nothing about this famous rapper until last night I feel like I have stumbled upon a jewel. Who hasn't heard California Dreaming? But it wasn't until last night that I knew the character of man. My friend rented a documentary on Tupac Shakur from MTV that went through all of his interviews. This man was so educated and thoughtful. After I left that night I decided to look into his poetry. I was so surprised and impressed. His poetry reminds me a lot of my own. When the family decided to go on vacation to Wyoming all we could think of was standing next to an erupting Geyser with us standing next to it in a flowing gown just like we have seen in the magazines. So when we packed we packed with fashion in mind. Sure people starred where ever we went...can we help it that we were the best dressed people in the state of Wyoming?But I think you'll agree. I found it! My leather jacket! I got it for 50 dollars total. I bought it with out the studs for 40 and I had to pay for the studs. When I am finished putting them around the collar I will have probably 200 studs or more. Man its so cool. I am going to be honest....its cooler than me. In my Jr high group the other day I noticed that 10 out of the 15 girls were wearing Uggs. Not just regular Uggs: Gold Uggs. Hott Pink Uggs. Dotted Uggs. Black Uggs. Grey Uggs. Every single color Ugg in the world was at my Jr. High Youth Group. I was going to get them all together for a picture but they wouldn't listen to me. This is how it works with Jr. Highers, they don't care if your older then them, it only depends if you are cooler than them. Unfortunately for me I am cooler than no one so it makes it a littler harder. I could probably catch on fire and they would not notice. Which really hinders our group talks and they're ability to hear anything I am saying. I think back in the day when I did Bible Studies with little English kids. I miss those days. The days when you were automatically cooler because you were American. It wasn't about the games, it wasn't about the clothes, it wasn't about anything other than the word of God.

Don't get me wrong. I am not sitting here thinking "O man why don't 7th graders like me? I guess God cant use me because they don't listen". The battle is God's. I pray for my relationships with them but I don't get upset. I don't battle against flesh and blood my friends.

This is a painting I did on a board of a weird little pot we have in my yard. Its a pot of an old lady. I put yellow daisies in it. It was so cute so I painted it. I am really glad I did. Because the other day I ran over the pot with my car. Opps.

My Important Thoughts on the Power of Coffee

The Power of Coffee.

Its the best.

I mean you feel like crap. You grab a coffee and then you feel like a power ranger! I mean coffee is a human's super power. It gives you power to do what you need to do. In turns every chore into a fun task. You get all this great energy and coffee tastes delicious. When I make my plans for the next day. I think to myself "O crap how can I do all that?" and then I say "I'll get a cup of coffee!". That solves that problem!

Then there are days like this. Where I planned to do my orientation so I could schedule a counseling appointment at my school. I go to starbucks. Crab a coffee. Sit down, login in and I am ready to go. I start reading the orientation and then I realize that I need to find my test results for my english and math test from Newport and then I need to pass the quiz and then I need find a major and then i need to blah blah blah.....

Its too bad coffee does not instill long term goals.

My Important Thoughts on Slime

Seriously?

AGGG!

Today was maybe one of the slimey days of my life. I felt worse than slime.....The worst part is is that I cant make sense of it all. None of it makes sense. My words are just repetitions of things I have spoken in the past. When I listen I no longer hear. Agg, I wonder what God is doing. It just hits me on occassion that I don't quite know who I am anymore.

Where did Wesley go?

I feel like I am in that Lady Gaga song, Just Dance. Where the whole time she does not know where she is, she's lost her cell phone and keys are and she just realized that some how her shirt got turned inside out. Yet in the midst of this crazy, stupid and dangerous situation she still just dances. Cause it doesn't matter. Or maybe its to hard to stop in the midst of the crowd and really think about all the problems she has to face.

My Important Thoughts on Blogs

My sister and I have never liked Blogs. A person that decides to write one is assuming someone else cares to read them.

I still agree with that to some degree. But I am starting one anyway.

This is what your thinking:

"Yea, well if you think blogs are stupid than why are you writing one"

My answer is this..

its because I am stupid.

Its something I have come to terms with.

I think blogs are an awesome outlet for creativity. It gives a stage and spotlight for some one that would never gets that chance.
